Who is Wass?
Wayne African Student Society unites people of African descent and provides leadership in taking action on issues that affect Africa and its surrounding communities. The organization exists to make a linkage with students of African descent here on the Wayne State University campus, as well as the surrounding communities of college-bound students within, but not limited to the state of Michigan
We come together with open minds, providing a place for the discussion and/or debate regarding matters of special interest to the African/African-American development. We rise against racism, sexism, ethnic rivalry, and political and economic oppression, while promoting relationships with people of various ethnic descents. We fight lies and slanders made about the African continent and its people. We help students of African descent adjust to living and studying at Wayne State University by giving them a supportive network to pursue their educational goals. We organize and participate in events and activities that help others to achieve an appreciation of the African culture.
